Booking Guruus for children
Learners under 18 must have an account set up by a parent or guardian. Guardians can access session recordings and are responsible for supervision.

How much does it cost?
Each Guruu sets their own rate. You’ll see the price upfront before booking, plus a small service fee and any required taxes.
How do payments work?
All payments are handled securely through Stripe. Guruu holds funds until your session is complete, then releases them to your Guruu.
Cancellations or changes
You can reschedule or cancel in your dashboard. Refunds depend on the Guruu’s cancellation policy — check their profile for details.
Reviews

Getting started
Guruu connects you with learners around the world who want to learn from your experience. It’s free to join, and you can teach from anywhere with an internet connection.
Creating your profile
Your profile is your shopfront. Add a great photo, a short bio, and a clear list of what you teach. Be genuine — honest profiles build trust and attract the right learners.
Setting your rate
You decide your hourly rate and availability. The minimum is AUD $25 per hour, but there’s no upper limit. You keep 85% of your session fee, minus Stripe’s processing fees.
How payments work
Learners pay in advance through Guruu. Funds are held securely until the session is complete, then released automatically to your account.
Video sessions
All sessions run through Guruu’s built-in video platform (powered by Twilio) — reliable, secure, and simple to use. Every session is recorded for safety and review.
Cancellations
You can set your own cancellation policy. If you cancel a booking, the learner receives a full refund. Frequent cancellations may affect your ranking.
Taxes & insurance

How does it work?
Guruu makes learning easy in just five steps:
1. University students create a free Guruu profile, set their availability, and choose their pricing.
2. Learners sign up as users for free, browse tutor profiles, send messages, book sessions, and prepay.
3. Sessions take place through Guruu’s built-in video conferencing, with recordings available for replay.
4. After the session, users release payment to their Guruu.
5. Users leave a rating and review, helping Guruus build their reputation.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken at the time of booking and held securely until the session is completed. Once the session ends, users are prompted to release payment to their Guruu. For more details, visit our Help Center.

How do I become a Guruu?
Sign up for a free account and select "Guruu" as your role. After verifying your email, you'll be guided through our onboarding process to set up your profile, add a photo and bio, and set your pricing and availability. When a learner books a session, you'll receive a confirmation email, and the session will be conducted via Guruu’s built-in video conferencing. Payment is released at the end of the session, along with a rating and review to help build your reputation.
